Join us on Saturday 1st August as we lead a family friendly ride in to central London to the Ride London FreeCycle!

We’re meeting at 9.30am on Ducketts Common, opposite Turnpike Lane tube station, right in the middle of Haringey. We’ll be led by Andrew, our experienced Ride Leader (in the green bib below!) and there’ll be plenty of lovely ride marshals (in pink bibs!) to make sure the ride is enjoyable for everyone. There’s more information on the London Cycling Campaign FreeCycle led rides page too. Everyone is welcome to join our ride in to central London, and return ride back again – we’d just ask that you spare 1 minute to register on the Ride London website, and select HARINGEY from the list of led rides available, so that we have a better idea of numbers. You can also register additional friends or family members once you’ve registered yourself.

Our next ride around Haringey – EAST

We’ll be riding around the borough with Cllr MacNamara and Cllr Mallett again on Friday 17th October, and this time, we’re heading EAST.

Think Chestnuts, Downhills and Lordship – The Roundway, Bruce Castle area (pictured on a sunny day!) Northumberland Park, Tottenham Hale.

We’ve compiled a list of locations to visit – if you have anything to add, please contact us by 12pm on Friday.

Watch out for a report after the ride…. and for details of our final ride when we’ll cover the west of the borough.

People on bikes needed for 5 minutes on Friday!

We need some people on bikes who can spare 5 minutes on Friday 17th October, at 10am in Tottenham, N17.

We’re meeting a local Councillor and Haringey Council representatives to discuss removal of the Park View Road and Ashley Road barriers, which prevent access to Lea Valley Park.

If you can make it, please email haringeycyclists@gmail.com with ‘Friday 10am’ in the title.

We’d particularly like to hear from you if you can come along and bring one of the following:

Child seat on a bike (with or without child in!)
Cargo bike
Bike with trailer
Bike with ‘dutch’ style high handlebars
Bike with front basket
Bike with large full panniers
Pushchair
Wheelchair
Shopping trolley

or anything that you’d struggle to get through these barriers….

Tour de Haringey with local Councillors – Friday 5th September

We’re off on a ride with local residents and Cabinet Member for the Environment – Councillor Stuart McNamara (one of our members is kindly loaning Stuart a bike for the occasion!)

There’s so many places to take Cllr McNamara, but here’s the route we’ve agreed, to take in as many ‘problem spots’ as possible in the time available:

LCN 54 back way to Whymark Ave and Turnpike La Junction where current work appears to be narrowing the road making it difficult to access ASL

Ducketts Common one-way

Harringay Rd rat run

Seymour rd or Hewitt rd unreasonable one-way and sub-standard traffic calming.

Wightman rd

Tottenham Lane left hook/one-way

Cross Lane

Newland rd

Western Ave railings etc

Here’s what is going on during Bike Week in Haringey…

(all events below organised by Haringey Council unless otherwise stated)

Finsbury Park Festival of Cycling

The Festival of Cycling, is on Sunday 15^th June. This is a tri borough event with Hackney and Islington Council’s celebrating all things cycling. We hope to see you there.

Doctor Bike during Bike Week

Bring your bike along for a tune up with our free Dr Bike maintenance at tube stations between 4pm and 7pm:

16^th June – Manor House

17^th June – Bounds Green

18^th June – Wood Green

19^th June – Seven Sisters

20^th June – Finsbury Park

We also have Dr Bike at the Festival of Cycling in Finsbury Park on Sunday 15^th June from 12-6pm and also in Priory Park on Sunday 22^nd June from 2-5pm.

Other Smarter Travel events

We will also have an information and advice stall and a Dr Bike at Stroud Green School for their Fete on Saturday 21^st June – 12-4pm along with a Dr Bike.

And we have our Smarter Travel Road Show providing information and advice on walking, cycling, public transport and greener driving along with a Dr Bike at Chestnuts Park on Sunday 22^nd June for the Shakhsiyah Foundation Fun Day & Sports Day from 12-5pm.

Feeder ride from Haringey to the BIG RIDE 2014

Join our experienced Ride Leader Patrick, on a guided and marshalled ride to the London Cycling Campaign Space for Cycling Big Ride 2014. The ride

Meet 9.15am on Saturday 17th May at Ducketts Common (across the road from Turnpike Lane tube station). We’ll be leaving at 9.30am on the dot, and meeting Islington Cyclists feeder ride at Highbury Fields, before heading down to Park Lane as one big ride!

The return ride to Haringey will meet at Temple after the ride has finished (around 2pm)
